How Much Does Aircraft Detailing Cost in Lubbock?

Quick answer: Aircraft detailing is quoted from the actual airframe and access conditions rather than a universal menu price. Airframe size, paint and window condition, belly and exhaust residue, brightwork, cabin scope, water or power access, security requirements, and approved products all change the labor plan.

A clean piston single, a working agricultural aircraft, and a cabin-class turbine are not versions of the same automotive package. Their surface area, access, materials, residue, and approval process are different. A useful aircraft-detailing quote begins with the tail number or aircraft type, requested scope, location, and current-condition photos.

The Main Cost Drivers

Why Aircraft Windows Change the Quote

Aircraft transparent panels are not treated like automotive glass. The FAA’s active AC 43.13-1B reference discusses careful cleaning of transparent plastics and warns that unsuitable solvents or dry rubbing can cause damage. Manufacturer instructions and aircraft-specific limitations take priority.

Existing scratches, crazing, coatings, seals, and material type need to be identified. Cleaning is not a promise to remove structural or material damage, and anything airworthiness-related belongs with the owner’s A&P or maintenance provider.

Exterior Wash vs Full Correction and Protection

An aircraft exterior wash removes suitable surface contamination using aircraft-appropriate methods. Paint correction is a separate inspection-led service aimed at improving polishable finish defects. Ceramic protection adds another preparation and application scope. Quoting all three as one flat “detail” hides the work and makes expectations unclear.

Brightwork and belly cleaning should also be listed separately when they are material. The owner should know which surfaces are included, what cannot be safely improved, and what needs maintenance approval.

What Delicate Details Does—and Does Not Do

Delicate Details provides aircraft cleaning, exterior finish care, brightwork polishing, interior detailing, and condition-based protective services. We are not an FAA repair station and do not perform inspections, repairs, disassembly, or maintenance requiring certificated personnel.

Static wicks, pitot/static openings, vents, antennas, sensors, seals, placards, and other sensitive areas must be identified and protected within the approved cleaning scope. The owner or authorized maintenance contact controls aircraft access and any required product approval.

What to Send for an Accurate Quote

  1. Aircraft make, model, and approximate configuration
  2. Airport, hangar, or tie-down location
  3. Requested exterior, belly, brightwork, interior, or coating scope
  4. Recent photos of the full airframe and problem areas
  5. Known material, finish, or product restrictions
  6. Water, power, access, escort, and schedule details
  7. Owner or maintenance contact who can approve the plan

Why We Do Not Publish a One-Number Price

A menu price would either overcharge a clean, accessible aircraft or understate a contaminated airframe with complex access. We inspect the scope, identify exclusions, and provide a written quote before work begins. That keeps the price tied to the aircraft rather than an automotive package name.

How this guide was prepared: Delicate Details combines shop experience with the primary sources linked above. Product instructions, vehicle conditions, and official rules can change; the current manufacturer or agency source controls.
