the Store Doesn't Cut It
Consumer stain sprays work on fresh, light stains. For anything that's been in the fabric for more than a day or two — or anything deep in the fibers — you need hot water extraction. The difference is that extraction injects cleaning solution under pressure and then pulls it back out along with the contamination. You're not just moving the stain around.
The other thing store sprays do is leave residue behind. That residue attracts new dirt, which is why you often see a ghost outline of the old stain re-appear after a few weeks. Professional extraction rinses everything out.
For Lubbock specifically — red West Texas dirt is notorious for setting in car carpet fast. If you've taken any caliche roads or dealt with post-storm mud, you know how deep that tan-orange clay gets into floor mats. Standard vacuuming doesn't get it out. Hot water extraction does.
