At Delicate Details, we've built a three-stage system that clearly defines what you're getting at every level — and this guide explains exactly what each stage includes, how long it takes, and how to decide which one your vehicle actually needs.

What Is a Basic Detail? (Stage 1 — Essential Detail)

A basic detail — what we call our Stage 1 Essential Detail — is the foundation service. It's not a car wash. It's a comprehensive maintenance clean for a vehicle that's in reasonable shape and gets regular attention. Here's what it includes:

• Exterior hand wash — two-bucket method with pH-neutral soap, not a drive-through machine
• Clay bar decontamination — removes bonded iron fallout and surface contamination that washing alone can't touch
• Tire and wheel cleaning — iron fallout remover on wheels, tire dressing applied
• Interior vacuum — seats, floors, cargo area, under seats
• Interior wipe-down — dash, door panels, center console, cup holders
• Glass cleaning inside and out
• Tire dressing — natural satin finish, not the greasy spray-and-go kind

Stage 1 takes approximately 3 hours. It's designed for vehicles that are maintained regularly — you get a detail every few months, the interior hasn't had a disaster, and the paint isn't heavily oxidized or swirled. This is a high-quality maintenance clean, not a deep rescue.

What Is a Full Detail? (Stage 2 — Full Reset & Protect)

A full detail — our Stage 2 Full Reset & Protect — is a more intensive service designed for vehicles that need a genuine reset. It includes everything in Stage 1, plus:

• Steam interior cleaning — high-temperature steam kills bacteria, loosens grime in crevices, and cleans surfaces that wipe-downs miss
• Carpet and seat extraction — wet/dry extractor pulls embedded dirt and odors from fabric
• Leather conditioning — cleans and conditions leather seats and surfaces to prevent cracking in Lubbock's dry West Texas climate
• Plastic trim restoration — protectant applied to all interior plastics and exterior trim
• 6-month ceramic sealant on paint — a proper ceramic-based sealant, not a spray wax, that bonds to the clear coat and provides real protection

Stage 2 takes approximately 5 hours. It's the right call when the interior needs real attention, when the vehicle hasn't been detailed in 6-12 months, or when you want paint protection that actually lasts. The ceramic sealant alone is worth it for Lubbock's caliche dust and UV environment.

What Is a Premium Detail? (Stage 3 — Premium Detail)

Stage 3 adds the one thing that neither Stage 1 nor Stage 2 touches: the paint itself. Machine polishing is included in Stage 3, which means:

• A dual-action orbital polisher with compound and polish removes swirl marks, light scratches, and oxidation haze from the clear coat
• The paint correction is done before the ceramic sealant is applied, so you're sealing corrected, glossy paint — not locking in defects
• Everything in Stage 1 and Stage 2 is included

Stage 3 takes 7–8 hours. It's the right service for paint that looks dull, hazy, or swirled — particularly common on darker-colored vehicles in Lubbock's intense UV environment, and on vehicles that have been through automatic car washes for years.

How to Decide Which Stage You Need
