Clay bar and iron decontamination at Delicate Details in Lubbock is a $75 add-on. We inspect clean paint first, then use compatible chemical or mechanical decontamination only where the contamination and next protection step call for it.
Condition-matched removal of bonded paint contamination that normal washing leaves behind. Iron remover, clay, or another compatible method is selected after inspection. $75 add-on.
Paint can look clean after washing and still hold bonded residue. We inspect the surface under suitable lighting and by touch with proper lubrication rather than assuming every vehicle needs the same chemical or clay process.
Ferrous particles, overspray, tar, mineral residue, and other contamination behave differently. Iron remover targets compatible ferrous contamination; clay can mechanically remove certain bonded residue but may also mark softer paint if used unnecessarily or aggressively.
The goal is a surface suitable for the next approved step, not maximum agitation. We select the least aggressive effective method and recheck the paint before polishing, sealant, or coating.
A compatible iron remover may be used on affected surfaces after inspection. Product instructions, panel temperature, finish, contamination, and weather determine application and dwell time. Color change can indicate a chemical reaction, but it does not measure years of buildup.
Where chemical cleaning is not enough, suitable clay media may be used with lubrication on affected panels. Because mechanical decontamination can mar paint, the media, pressure, and need for follow-up polishing depend on the finish and a test area.
After decontamination: We rinse or wipe as the product requires, inspect again, and decide whether the surface is ready for the next approved step. Coating preparation follows the exact product instructions and the vehicle's condition.
The $75 add-on covers the agreed clay and iron-decontamination scope. Full Reset & Protect and Premium include condition-matched exterior decontamination; the actual method may be chemical, mechanical, both, or neither if inspection shows it is unnecessary or unsuitable. Coating preparation follows the selected product and written package scope.
